华盛顿哥伦比亚特区高等学校列表
根据卡内基高等教育机构分类法，美国华盛顿哥伦比亚特区共有十九间高等学校[注 1]，其中包括五所研究型大学、四所硕士型大学，以及十所专业型高等教育机构。在这些高等学校中，十六所为私立院校，其中三所为营利性质；而列于卡内基分类法中的公立院校则只有三所。除了卡内基分类法下列明的院校外，华盛顿特区还有另外三所非营利私立高等学校（分别为约翰斯·霍普金斯大学的保罗·H·尼兹高等国际研究学院、NewU大学及圣保禄学院），以及两所的公立高等学校（即国防大学及美洲防务学院）。
华盛顿特区最古老的高等学校是创立于1789年的乔治敦大学[2][3]。该校同时也是美国历史最悠久的耶稣会及天主教大学[4][5]。乔治·华盛顿大学成立于1821年，是特区学生人数最多的高等学校，截至2023年秋季有约25,568名学生[6][7]。根据美国教育部辖下教育科学研究所的资料，华盛顿神学联盟的学生人数最少，仅约80人[7]。
在卡内基分类法中，华盛顿特区共有六所天主教背景的高等学校，分别为：美国天主教大学、乔治敦大学、道明会研究院、美国天主教大学若望保禄二世宗座婚姻与家庭研究学院、三一华盛顿大学，以及华盛顿神学联盟。此外，高立德大学是一所专为听障及弱听人士而设的高等学校，其教学语言为英语与美国手语，并具双语教学特色[8]。
哥伦比亚特区大学是华盛顿特区最大型的公立大学，学生人数约为5,110人，同时亦是区内历史最悠久的传统黑人大学[7]，亦是特区唯一获授予土地拨款的大学[9]。另一所传统黑人大学是霍华德大学，与哥伦比亚特区大学同为瑟古德·马歇尔大学基金会的成员，也是一所全国排名顶尖的黑人大学[10][11]。
华盛顿特区设有三所医学院，分别是乔治·华盛顿大学医学与健康科学学院、乔治敦大学医学院，以及霍华德大学医学院。另外，区内共有六所获美国律师协会认可的法学院，包括：哥伦比亚特区大学大卫·A·克拉克法学院、美国天主教大学哥伦布法学院、霍华德大学法学院、乔治·华盛顿大学法学院、乔治敦大学法律中心和美利坚大学华盛顿法学院[12]。华盛顿特区共有十八间高等学校获 中部州学院与学校协会（MSA）正式认可。其中多间同时亦获其他认证机构承认，例如美国心理学会（APA）、美国语言—言语—听力协会（ASHA）、美加神学院协会（ATS）、大学护理教育认证委员会（CCNE），以及全国教师教育认证委员会（NCATE）等。
