華盛頓哥倫比亞特區大專院校列表
根據卡內基高等教育機構分類法，美國華盛頓哥倫比亞特區共有十九間大專院校[註 1]，其中包括五所研究型大學、四所碩士型大學，以及十所專業型高等教育機構。在這些大專院校中，十六所為私立院校，其中三所為營利性質；而列於卡內基分類法中的公立院校則只有三所。除了卡內基分類法下列明的院校外，華盛頓特區還有另外三所非營利私立大專院校（分別為約翰霍普金斯大學的保羅·H·尼茲高等國際研究學院、NewU大學及聖保祿學院），以及兩所的公立大專院校（即國防大學及美洲防務學院）。
華盛頓特區最古老的大專院校是創立於1789年的佐治城大學[2][3]。該校同時也是美國歷史最悠久的耶穌會及天主教大學[4][5]。喬治·華盛頓大學成立於1821年，是特區學生人數最多的大專院校，截至2023年秋季有約25,568名學生[6][7]。根據美國教育部轄下教育科學研究所的資料，華盛頓神學聯盟的學生人數最少，僅約80人[7]。
在卡內基分類法中，華盛頓特區共有六所天主教背景的大專院校，分別為：美國天主教大學、佐治城大學、道明會研究院、美國天主教大學若望保祿二世宗座婚姻與家庭研究學院、三一華盛頓大學，以及華盛頓神學聯盟。此外，高立德大學是一所專為聽障及弱聽人士而設的大專院校，其教學語言為英語與美國手語，並具雙語教學特色[8]。
哥倫比亞特區大學是華盛頓特區最大型的公立大學，學生人數約為5,110人，同時亦是區內歷史最悠久的傳統黑人大學[7]，亦是特區唯一獲授予土地撥款的大學[9]。另一所傳統黑人大學是霍華德大學，與哥倫比亞特區大學同為瑟古德·馬歇爾大學基金會的成員，也是一所全國排名頂尖的黑人大學[10][11]。
華盛頓特區設有三所醫學院，分別是喬治·華盛頓大學醫學與健康科學學院、佐治城大學醫學院，以及霍華德大學醫學院。另外，區內共有六所獲美國律師協會認可的法學院，包括：哥倫比亞特區大學大衛·A·克拉克法學院、美國天主教大學哥倫布法學院、霍華德大學法學院、喬治·華盛頓大學法學院、佐治城大學法律中心和美利坚大学华盛顿法学院[12]。華盛頓特區共有十八間大專院校獲 中部州學院與學校協會（MSA）正式認可。其中多間同時亦獲其他認證機構承認，例如美國心理學會（APA）、美國語言—言語—聽力協會（ASHA）、美加神學院協會（ATS）、大學護理教育認證委員會（CCNE），以及全國教師教育認證委員會（NCATE）等。
