尼爾·坎貝爾·道格拉斯·弗格森爵士（英語：Sir Niall Campbell Douglas Ferguson；1964年4月18日—）[1]是位大不列顛國籍的歷史學者，現任職為哈佛大學的提胥講座教授、牛津大學耶穌學院等大學機構的資深研究員。他的專長是與世界史、經濟史、惡性通貨膨脹、基金市場、美國暨英國的帝國主義等的相關研究[2]。

弗格森的著作包括《帝國：大英世界秩序興衰以及給世界強權的啟示》、《貨幣崛起：金融資本如何改變世界歷史及其未來之路》與《文明：決定人類走向的六大殺手級Apps》均已製作成電視專題影集。

2004年，他登上《時代雜誌》的世界前100大具影響力的人物。

早年

弗格森1964年4月18日生於蘇格蘭格拉斯哥。父親是醫生，母親是物理教師。[3][4]他後來就學於格拉斯哥學校，[5]在無神論的學習環境下成長；儘管認為基督教道德對於社會有很大的幫助，並鼓勵孩童需要上教堂，但至今他仍保持著無神論者的觀點。[6]

弗格森曾提及自他幼年起，他的醫生父親就開始培養他具有高度的自律意識和敬業的態度，他身任物理教師的母親負責培養他的創意性；[7]他曾任新聞記者的外婆則鼓勵他寫作。[7]弗格森在大學時代，一度無法從英國文學和歷史學擇一做為主修學系，後來是由於閱讀了名著《戰爭與和平》而選擇了歷史學。[4]
