尼尔·坎贝尔·道格拉斯·弗格森爵士（英语：Sir Niall Campbell Douglas Ferguson；1964年4月18日—）[1]是位大不列颠国籍的历史学者，现任职为哈佛大学的提胥讲座教授、牛津大学耶稣学院等大学机构的资深研究员。他的专长是与世界史、经济史、恶性通货膨胀、基金市场、美国暨英国的帝国主义等的相关研究[2]。

弗格森的著作包括《帝国：大英世界秩序兴衰以及给世界强权的启示》、《货币崛起：金融资本如何改变世界历史及其未来之路》与《文明：决定人类走向的六大杀手级Apps》均已制作成电视专题影集。

2004年，他登上《时代杂志》的世界前100大具影响力的人物。

早年

弗格森1964年4月18日生于苏格兰格拉斯哥。父亲是医生，母亲是物理教师。[3][4]他后来就学于格拉斯哥学校，[5]在无神论的学习环境下成长；尽管认为基督教道德对于社会有很大的帮助，并鼓励孩童需要上教堂，但至今他仍保持著无神论者的观点。[6]

弗格森曾提及自他幼年起，他的医生父亲就开始培养他具有高度的自律意识和敬业的态度，他身任物理教师的母亲负责培养他的创意性；[7]他曾任新闻记者的外婆则鼓励他写作。[7]弗格森在大学时代，一度无法从英国文学和历史学择一做为主修学系，后来是由于阅读了名著《战争与和平》而选择了历史学。[4]
