死神玉米片挑戰

死神玉米片挑戰（英語：One Chip Challenge）是一項網路挑戰活動，參與者需要吃下一片含有卡羅來納死神辣椒的特辣帕基牌玉米片，且隨後不得通過食用或飲用其他東西來緩解辣感。目前已有很多知名人士已經嘗試過這項挑戰，但該挑戰因其對健康產生負面影響而受到批評。

2023年9月，一名來自美國麻薩諸塞州的14歲男孩在接受挑戰的當天死亡，隨後品牌方立即召回並停止進一步銷售該玉米片，且無限期停止對該挑戰的宣傳。目前其死亡原因正在調查中，尚不清楚該玉米片是否為其死亡的直接原因，亦或是由其自身的健康因素所造成。不過儘管如此，這名青少年的死亡導致該款玉米片在許多零售店被禁售。[1][2]

帕基是美國的玉米片品牌，由好時公司的子公司Amplify Snack Brands生產。該公司的卡羅來那死神玉米片以獨立包裝出售，是口味最辣的零食之一。 [3][4][5][6][7][8][9]帕基的創立者為資深廣告業者道格·萊昂以及阿麗莎·巴薩那，他們於2008年在奧斯汀創立了該品牌。[10]SkinnyPop公司於2015年收購了帕基，萊昂成為了該公司的創意與創新副總裁。[11]SkinnyPop後來又合併為Amplify Snack Brands，隨後該公司於2017年被好時公司收購。[12]

Amplify Snack Brands於2016年推出了「死神玉米片挑戰」活動，其中參與者須吃下一片卡羅來那死神玉米片，並避免在此之後再吃其他任何東西。[4][13][9]KWGN-TV的一位主播曾在直播中參加該挑戰，並當場嘔吐。[14]此外亞歷山卓·歐加修-寇蒂茲、俠客·歐尼爾、喬爾·恩比德、利爾·亞奇蒂和肖恩·埃文斯等名人都參加了這一挑戰。[15]2022年，該玉米片又推出了能夠將舌頭染成藍色的改版，以防止人們在挑戰中作弊。[16]

由於很多參與者在參與挑戰後都需要醫療救治，因此該調整一直都存在爭議。[17]帕基方面警告稱，該挑戰只限成年人參加，且參與者應做好安全預防措施。[18]

由於許多少年兒童參與了這項挑戰，為此不少學校採取了應對措施。2022年9月，這項挑戰被科羅拉多州韋爾法諾縣的韋爾法諾學區RE-1禁止，這是因為該區有很多學童參加了此項挑戰並因此被送醫治療。[19][20][21]此外，加利福尼亞州洛迪的洛迪高中[15]和德克薩斯州佩爾蘭的佩爾蘭獨立學區學校也禁止進行「死神玉米片挑戰」 。[22]2022年11月，醫護人員趕往位於喬治亞州鄧伍迪的鄧伍迪高中，以救治參與此項挑戰的學生。[23][24]

2023年9月，麻薩諸塞州伍斯特一名14歲男孩在吃下玉米片後直呼腹痛難忍，並在幾個小時後死亡。[24]不久之後，帕基在其官網上刪除了「在你螺旋式上升之前你能堅持多久？」等宣傳死神玉米片挑戰的字樣，同時也刪除了線上銷售玉米片及找尋線下玉米片銷售點的網頁。[25]該公司還要求零售商停止銷售玉米片，並向購買這些玉米片的顧客提供退款服務。該公司的一位發言人表示：「我們關心所有消費者，並已決定將該產品下架。目前有幾名代表前往零售商處取回召回的產品，以防止通過線下銷售進一步對消費者造成傷害。」[26]

除了玉米片本身以外，很多涉及此項挑戰的人也因其他原因受到批評。說唱歌手T.I.的兒子金·哈里斯提出，如果一位無家可歸的流浪漢能夠成功參與這項挑戰，那麼他將給他50美元獎勵。這一提議引發了很大的爭議。由於此人未能完成挑戰，哈里斯最終只肯支付其20美元。[27]
