棕櫚目是單子葉植物鴨跖草類分支下的一個目。本目曾經只有一科，即棕櫚科。2016年發表的APG IV 分類法將曾經直接置於鴨跖草類分支下的多須草科放入本目，基於一些研究反映多須草科為棕櫚科的姐妹群。[1]

[編輯]棕櫚目屬於被子植物，是單子葉植物鴨跖草類的分支之一，與禾本目、姜目及鴨跖草目的親緣關係最近。
