2016年美国职棒大联盟选秀，卡尔森在首轮第33顺位被红雀选中。[1]
2020年8月15日，卡尔森登上大联盟。[2]他在8月23日敲出大联盟首轰，[3]整季他的打击率为2成，并敲出3轰与16分打点。[4]
2021年，卡尔森成为球队的先发中外野手。[5]他在4月7日敲出生涯首发满贯炮，[6]整季他的打击率为2成66，并敲出18轰与65分打点。最后他在新人王票选上拿下第三名。[7]
2022年，卡尔森成为了右外野手。7月2日，他参与了大联盟史上第11次的连四棒开轰纪录。当时他棒打了费城人的先发凯尔·吉卜森，成为单局第四位(而且连续)开轰的打者。[8]整季他的打击率为2成36，并敲出8轰与42分打点。[9]
2023年，卡尔森的打击率为2成19，并敲出5轰与27分打点。[10]他不仅整体攻击数据出现明显下滑，他还在8月中出现左斜肌和左脚踝伤势，导致球季报销。[11]
2024年，卡尔森在春训时为了接球与队友Jordan Walker发生碰撞，[12]这导致他错过开季。[13]最后他整季仅留下1成98的打击率，并打回11分打点。
坦帕湾光芒
[编辑]2024年7月30日，红雀将卡尔森交易到光芒，换来Shawn Armstrong。[14]他在光芒缴出2成19的打击率，并敲出3轰与14分打点。球季结束后，他成为自由球员。[15]

[编辑]2025年1月27日，卡尔森与金莺签下一年97万5000美元的合约。[16]而他开季从3A出发。[17]
