Roundcube是一款以网页为基础的IMAP电子邮件客户端。Roundcube最著名的功能就是对AJAX的广泛使用。Roundcube是以GNU通用公共许可证许可的自由及开放源代码软件（外观与插件除外）[3]。

经过大约两年的开发，Roundcube的第一个稳定版于2008年初发布。
技术[编辑]
Roundcube以PHP编写，可以与LAMP或是其他任何支持PHP的操作系统结合使用。网络服务器必须能访问IMAP服务器来托管电子邮件，以及SMTP服务器来发送消息。
Roundcube Webmail的设计是与关系数据库引擎一起在Apache、LiteSpeed、Nginx、lighttpd、Hiawatha或Cherokee等标准网络服务器上执行。支持的数据库有MySQL、PostgreSQL与SQLite。用户界面以XHTML与CSS呈现，并可完全使用外观自定义。
Roundcube将jQuery纳入其散布版中，同时也包含了其他函式库，如GoogieSpell与TinyMCE等。
插件[编辑]
从0.3版开始，Roundcube引入了插件API，可以在不修改源代码的情况下新增非标准功能。插件仓库中提供了各种插件。
"Roundcube Next"项目[编辑]
2015年3月，Roundcube宣布与Kolab Systems AG合作，项目完全重写Roundcube并建立Roundcube Next。发起了一项群众募资活动以资助该项目。6月24日达到了80,000美元的目标[4]。最终募集到的资金为103,541美元[5]。
Roundcube Next旨在包含如日历、聊天与文件管理等额外功能。这将使用WebRTC与来自Dropbox与ownCloud等流行的服务的连接程序实现。
不过，Kolab Systems与Roundcube在2016年停止了该项目的开发，且未向项目支持者提供任何信息或退款，导致群众募资失败[6]。Roundcube开发者后来声称Roundcube对Roundcube Next活动没有所有权[7]，尽管在群众募资页面上显示他们的公开参与以及所有权[5]。

著名的用户[编辑]
许多大学使用Roundcube为学生与员工提供电子邮件服务，例如桑格研究所塔塔社会科学研究所[8]、佛罗里达大学[9]、 犹他大学[10]、俄勒冈大学[11]、史蒂文斯理工学院[12]、挪威科技大学[13]、剑桥大学[14]、德里印度理工学院[15]、孟买印度理工学院[16]、布巴内什瓦尔、加尔各答印度科学教育与研究学院、印度理工学院马德拉斯分校[17]。
在2009年的采访中，两个Roundcube的核心开发者指出，他们所知到当时为止最大的部署是在密歇根大学，当时有70,013名学生[18]。Roundcube也被Kolab Now用于其进一步开发的服务中。
cPanel也包含了Roundcube，因此HostGator[19]、Media Temple、Gandi、OVH[20]等许多主机托管公司都使用Roundcube。Roundcube Webmail IMAP客户端也被集成到epesiBIM（epesi商业信息管理程序）中，其为以网络为基础的开放源代码类CRM应用程序。
苹果的Mac OS X 10.7 Lion服务器操作系统将Roundcube作为邮件服务器中的网页邮件客户端提供[21]。在较旧的版本中，默认的客户端为SquirrelMail。
2013年，伊朗的信息通信技术部在mail.post.ir上使用Roundcube启动了国家电子邮件服务[22]。群晖科技的DiskStation Manager (DSM)在其Mail Station软件包中使用Roundcube。
