《9分钟看完日本历史》2016年2月2日在上传后爆红，在2月8日的观看量到达400万。[11]视频在Tumblr与Reddit受到关注，[4][10]并成了常见的网络迷因。尤其在讨论政治时，常出现与该片相关的名言和图片。[14]截至2024年[update]，视频观看量到达8200万。
《Mashable》的Adario Strange称视频是“有趣的新教育方法。”[13] 《Vox》的German Lopez则说视频“奇特”、“很棒”、且“出奇地有趣”，但也发现视频对近代日本战争罪行轻轻带过，并将其归咎于视频播放时间过短。[12]2021年，《Polygon》把《9分钟看完日本历史》列为“25个网上最笨的视频”。[15]

2017年5月10日，Wurtz上传了约19分钟的《19分钟看完整个世界历史》（英语：history of the entire world, i guess）。其主题为世界历史，简要地涵盖了从大爆炸到近未来的自然史与文明史。[16]视频制作费时11个月，其中有三个月是在研究世界历史。[6][17]视频也延续了Wurtz的快节奏、荒诞幽默，以及爵士乐般的音乐插曲风格。[18]
《19分钟看完整个世界历史》在上传首日，观看数就高达320万，上了YouTube的发烧视频页。[5]在Reddit，《19分钟看完整个世界历史》成为点赞数最高的视频。[19]视频成为许多网络迷因的素材，并在YouTube当年度十大热门视频排行榜中名列第八。[20][21]截至2025年1月[update]，观看数为有1亿7300万次。[22]

[编辑]2017年，Wurtz发表了荒谬主义视频“Hi, I'm Steve”，并在Reddit上走红。故事主角是一位名为“Steve”的男性。[26][27]他也开始制作动画音乐片，著名作品有“Mount St. Helens is about to Blow Up”、“and the day goes on”等。另外还有一些无意义的短视频。[9][28][29]
2018年，Wurtz首次在H3 Podcast接受专访。[6][9]同年发表的《I Just Did a Bad Thing》引发了TikTok的对嘴视频热潮。创作者将音乐用作搭配恶作剧、或（令人后悔的）外貌改变的视频。[30]上百万人使用该片做二创。2019年3月，“#ididabadthing”成为TikTok的最热门标签。[31][32]
