Hubei Normal University is a comprehensive undergraduate teacher-training institution affiliated with Hubei Province in China. It is authorized to confer master's degrees and was formerly known as Hubei Normal College. On March 1, 2016, it was renamed Hubei Normal University following approval from the Ministry of Education.
History
[编辑]Hubei Normal University traces its origins back to the establishment of the Huangshi Branch of the Huazhong Normal College (now known as Huazhong Normal University) in 1973. In 1977, the branch began offering undergraduate education and was among the first institutions to be granted the authority to confer bachelor's degrees after the resumption of the National College Entrance Examination (Gaokao). In 1978, with approval from the State Council, the institution was renamed Huangshi Normal College, becoming a provincially administered independent undergraduate teacher-training institution. In 1985, the Hubei Provincial People's Government decided to rename the college Hubei Normal College. Starting in 1986, it began joint enrollment and training of master's students with Hubei University. In 2002, the college accepted and passed the national undergraduate teaching assessment. In early 2006, the college officially became authorized to confer master's degrees.
