冠角犀鸟属（學名：Lophoceros，台湾作冠犀鳥屬），是犀鳥目犀鸟科下的一個屬。^[3]本數物種皆分布于非洲，目前下屬8個物種。^[3]

分類歷史

本屬為德國博物學家威爾海姆·弗雷德里希·漢普里希（英语：Wilhelm Hemprich）及克里斯汀·戈特弗里德·埃倫伯格於1833年建立。^[4]^{[註 1]}其模式種當時被指定為Buceros [Lophoceros] forskålii，即卡尔·林奈先前已命名的黑嘴弯嘴犀鸟（英语：African Grey Hornbill）。^[7]^[1]^{[註 2]}其屬名Lophoceros源自於古希臘語λοφος（羅馬化：lophos，意即「頭冠」）及角犀鸟属的學名Buceros組合而成。^[9]^[10]

本屬建立後一度被認為是弯嘴犀鸟属的異名，直到2013年的分子研究證明本屬物種與弯嘴犀鸟属物種已經分為兩個大分支，且輔以叫聲及行為證據因而被重新建立。但兩者仍為關係最近的姐妹群。^[11]

^ 有學者認為漢普里希不應為本屬的共同命名者，因在該書出版之前（雖然本書因分段出版，導致正確年份仍難以完全釐清）漢普里希早已在厄利垂亞因瘧疾於1825年過世，但根據現行《國際動物命名法規》法規，仍尊重埃倫伯格當時標註兩人（備註中的拉丁語「H. et E.」）為共同作者的原意。但埃倫伯格命名時除外了那些獻給漢普里希的物種，如在本屬內的亨氏弯嘴犀鸟（英语：Lophoceros hemprichii）。^[5]^[6]
