English: Walther P99Q police service pistol. The P99Q is a designated police pistol, which has been certified according to the Technical Specifications (TR) of the German Police (Technische Richtlinie Pistolen im Kaliber 9mm x 19, Revision January 2008). The P99Q is exclusively manufactured for domestic and foreign police departments and is not available on the civilian market.
In 2013 the Netherlands Police will be armed with the P99Q NL (H3), as a replacement for the currently used Walther P5 and Glock 17 pistols. Part of the Dutch replacement operation will be the extra training of the police officers for their qualification with the new handgun. This operation will take place from 2013 up to 2014 and will include around 40,000 police officers. During the introduction of a new pistol the special police-units and key instructors for further training will have priority.
The order consist of:
- 42,000 service pistols (also for the Dutch Customs service)
- 1,250 practice pistols
- 700 instruction pistols
- 1,000 pistols adapted voor firing FX simunition
- 190 cut away models
The ammunition chosen for the Walther P99Q NL (H3) by the Netherlands Police is 9x19mm Parabellum RUAG SINTOX-ACTION 4 NP (Netherlands Police) lead free ammunition loaded with 6.1 g (64 gr) solid brass hollow point plastic tip covered projectiles. The orange coloured plastic tips of the NP variant are custom made for the Netherlands Police to facilitate easy forensic identification as police ammunition.
